Centre for Financial Innovation and Risk Management

 

The Department of Economics, the Department of Statistical & Actuarial Sciences, the Faculty of Law, and the Ivey Business School have collaborated to form Western's interdisciplinary Centre for Financial Innovation and Risk Management (CFIRM). CFIRM brings together experts from academia, financial firms, businesses, and regulatory agencies in order to maximize information about the problems pertaining to financial innovation and risk management and to synthesize the various approaches toward solving them.

CFIRM takes advantage of Western University’s rich academic resources and world-class reputation to provide a context for the cultivation of research and coordination across disciplines. It serves as a forum for sharing the results of this collaborative research in order to ensure that future investments using newly developed financial innovations can be made in accordance with the best available evidence.In addition to its status as an interdisciplinary research hub, the unique synergistic atmosphere of CFIRM seeks to combine this research with teaching and outreach in areas related to Financial Innovation and Risk Management for the benefit of all those affected by financial innovations.
